Signs to watch for
Signs your engine needs a rebuild.
A rebuild is a complete strip, machine and reassembly with new internals to bring a worn or failed engine back to life. If you are seeing any of these, a rebuild in our Benalla shop is usually the most cost-effective fix and cheaper than a replacement engine.
Knocking or rod knock
A deep metallic knock usually means bottom-end bearing or rod wear. Once it knocks, a rebuild beats patching it up and waiting for it to let go.
Heavy blue smoke
Worn rings or bores letting oil burn through the engine. A rebuild restores compression and stops the smoke for good.
Metal in the oil
Shavings or glitter on the dipstick or in the filter mean internal wear. That is a full strip and rebuild, not a quick fix.
Low compression across cylinders
When several cylinders are down, it is usually rings, bores or valves. A rebuild brings the whole engine back to spec.
Repeated overheating or head gasket failure
Warped or cracked components that keep failing need machining and a proper rebuild, not another gasket that fails again.
Seized or will not turn over
A locked engine almost always means a rebuild or replacement. Bring it in and we will tell you straight whether yours is worth saving.

Every build follows the same disciplined process in our Sydney Road workshop. Measured, machined and assembled to spec, with you in the loop the whole way.

Engine fully dismantled, every component cleaned, measured and assessed. You get a full condition report with options and a firm quote.

Machine to spec
In-house machine shop: boring, honing, deck and head resurfacing, crankshaft grinding, line boring. Nothing gets outsourced.

Quality parts
OEM-spec parts for standard rebuilds, or performance components matched to the build. We talk you through the options first.

Assembly to tolerance
Bearings, rings, clearances and timing all set to spec. Torque values and break-in procedures documented as we go.

Run-in & quality check
Engine checked and run-in before handover. Returned to you ready to fit, backed by our workshop warranty.

We’re Matt and Chantelle, and we took this place on more than five years ago.
We started small, with a willingness to graft and a belief we could do it better. Long days. Working things out as we went. Keeping the doors open one week at a time.
That work ethic still runs the place. Every engine, every service, every job gets the same attention to detail. We do the job right, and we stand behind it.
What we’re most proud of is the customers who keep coming back, the locals who send their mates our way, and the workshops that trust us with their engines. That backing is what built this business.

A rebuild is a complete strip, machine and reassembly. The engine comes apart entirely, every component is cleaned and measured, the block, crank and heads are machined back to spec, and it goes back together with new bearings, rings, gaskets and seals, all set to tolerance. You get an engine back to factory condition or better.
